چکیده

A number of field buses are available to exchange the serial data among one or more controllers and a number of field devices that are communicating with each other. However, field bus standards are not uniform at present, which brings many difficulties in system design, as different equipments from different manufacturers follow different standards. For a reliable system design there is a need of efficient communication interface to make the communication possible. CAN bus and Modbus are two most common field buses used in industrial control equipments. This paper highlights the basics of these buses and also explain the designing of CAN bus and Modbus protocol conversion interface. A complete hardware and software design detail is also provided in this paper.

Design of Ethernet-CAN Protocol Conversion Module Based on STM32

CAN bus is ISO international standard serial communication protocol. It is one of the most widely used fieldbus in the world. It has become the standard bus of embedded industrial control LAN. Ethernet is the most common communication protocol standard that is applied in the existing LAN. Networked industrial control usually adopts fieldbus and Ethernet network, thus the protocol conversion pro...

CANAuth - A Simple, Backward Compatible Broadcast Authentication Protocol for CAN bus

The Controller-Area Network (CAN) bus protocol [1] is a bus protocol invented in 1986 by Robert Bosch GmbH, originally intended for automotive use. By now, the bus can be found in devices ranging from cars and trucks, over lightning setups to industrial looms. Due to its nature, it is a system very much focused on safety, i.e., reliability. Unfortunately, there is no build-in way to enforce sec...

Secure communication in microcomputer bus systems for embedded devices

The protection of the microcomputer bus system in embedded devices is essential to prevent eavesdropping and the growing number of todays hardware hacking attacks. This contribution presents a hardware solution to ensure microcomputer bus systems via the Tree Parity Machine Rekeying Architecture (TPMRA). For this purpose a scalable TPMRA IP-core is designed and implemented in order to meet adap...

LOW-POWER SYSTEMS-ON-CHIP Bus encoding architecture for low-power implementation of an AMBA-based SoC platform

Advanced microcontroller bus architecture (AMBA) is rapidly becoming the de facto standard for new system-on-chip (SoC) designs. The bus protocol is complex, making any peripherals that can interface to it valuable intellectual property (IP). This paper presents a lowpower bus encoding architecture which is able to deal with the complex advanced highperformance bus (AHB) protocol within AMBA, w...
